These are Dec 2007 Ted Talks. Anne Cooper is in charge of nutrition for Berkeley schools, and gives a PROFOUND 20 min talk on how we are killing our children with school lunches. Mark Bittman is the New York Times food writer. He points out that while the world population doubled since 1950, the total consumption of animals went up by 5: the animals we kill each year would line up to the moon 5 times. And, worse than all the cars of the world combined, 18% of greenhouse gasses are produced by these animals, so animal consumption is killing us both through disease and our environment. Mark summarizes what Anne says about food for children but for all of us: "Less meat, less junk, more plants...eat food, eat REAL food."
Great! Also check out Jamie Oliver's piece (a TED talk): http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/eng/jamie_oliver.html
