Greetings Clyde,
You gave a presentation at South Hills Community Church in San Jose in late 2006. I approached you after your great presentation and asked about "The Water Cure." You hadn't heard of it and, from my observation, seemed to regard it as some quack "cure". ;-) Being that you are a consummate researcher, I thought you might enjoy an excerpt from Dr. Batmanghelidj's book "Water for Health, for Healing, for Life" that details what the cure is - http://www.grandtimes.com/Water_Cure.html While Dr. B has unfortunately passed away, his publishing company lives on and continues his website - www.watercure.com
Here is a partial quote by Dr. B is on the home page (you'll identify with it), "I am a researcher. I have researched dehydration for the past 20 years. When I discovered that the solution to most of the disease conditions of our society is not a money maker, I decided to take my information to the public. My research revealed that unintentional dehydration produces stress, chronic pains and many degenerative diseases."
I'd be curious to hear your thoughts after you've had a chance to delve into it a little.
All the best - Mark.
ANSWER: Hi Mark, I read the most recent scientific paper that was published by Dr. Batmanghelidj. I agree with everything he says, but a careful reading makes it clear that not only is water important to health but that research is lacking. His discussion of osmolarity, ion pump function, protein conformations, energy production and membrane potentials are all very persuasive, but the fact is that there are no conclusive studies looking at how cell function or organism health improves as water is titrated into the body. I do not know why the scientific community has ignored it. I thank you for sending me this link. I am going to make people aware of this work as I continue to assert that water is a pharmacological agent. But, unfortunately (and this is true in many areas of nutrition), the research is not clear enough yet to say definitive things like "if you are dehydrated you have 30% greater risk of cancer." We CAN make such statements with trans fats, sugars, eating charred foods, etc. Thanks again - Clyde
