As we age our DNA get shorter, which changes the rate at which proteins in the body are produced and the rate at which cells regenerate. In addition, any poor health habits practiced throughout life start to show their negative effects as their cumulative impact become larger with time. As a result, nutrition becomes even more important as we get older. The two things to focus on are: (1) Optimize physiological function by making sure the body gets all the things it needs AND (2) optimize life span by (a) reducing disease risk and (b) increasing cell health with slight caloric restriction.
