Clyde, Perhaps you have some insight into this--I've found, especially recently, that I'm getting an uncomfortably full feeling, not overt bloating or gas, but notably enlarged stomach, even after eating modestly. It surprises me some days, and since I've eaten 4-6 different foods, I haven't figured out which one might be the problem. Are there some common culprits? Could it be a mild food allergy? Thanks, Lloyd
ANSWER: Dehydration, usually due to low salt intake during weeks of hard training (regardless of how much water you drink), is a major culprit for athletes when it comes to reduced digestion and bloating (see my other discussions in this category). Rapidly increasing fiber intake in only a few days or even a couple weeks can result in serious gastrointestinal distress (increase it slowly over a month!). If neither of these seem to be the problem, then experiment by eating only ONE type of food that is most likely the problem to see if digestion is worse than usual before moving onto the next potential culprit.
